My Ideal House Finds its New Owner
3 July 2018
All the drama of happiness and heartache played out when My Ideal House at CREST by Mirvac went to auction on Saturday, selling under the hammer for $950,000.
It was an excellent result that reflected buyer appreciation for the many sustainability and design features that were included in My Ideal House, a joint project by Mirvac and Australian House & Garden magazine to create a sustainable, flexible and future proof home for the modern family.
The winning bid came from a professional who fell in love at first sight with the Madeleine Blanchfield designed home. She’d been looking on the north shore but was determined to secure My Ideal House, even though it meant directing her bids by phone from Vienna where she was attending a conference.
Stuart Penklis, Head of Residential, had the honour of handing over a cheque for $50,000 to the Salvation Army on behalf of Mirvac, to help them continue their work assisting the homeless. Mirvac has supported the Salvation Army for many years and this was our way of showing appreciation for the contribution they make to communities throughout Australia.
More than 500 people viewed My Ideal House over the course of the campaign, 18 requested contracts and six registered to bid. And while there can only be one winner at auction we’re doing our best to assist those who missed out by offering the Landon Series, a Homes by Mirvac design, which includes many of the great sustainability and design features of My Ideal House.
The journey from a concept to reality has come to an exceptional finale with the sale of My Ideal House. Madeleine’s vision was brought to life and My Ideal House has shown the value of great design and a quality build. The modern family home has been redefined.
