Galloway Green park opens with fun for the family and a helping hand for farmers

The ribbon was cut and the slide and swings put into action as Camden Deputy Mayor Theresa Fedeli officially opened Galloway Green, the community park at the heart of Mirvac’s new development CREST, on Saturday 27th October 2018.

With a crowd of over 500 people streaming in to visit Gledswood Hills’ newest park there was an air of high festivity and some serious family rivalry as mums, dads and kids took part in old-fashioned sports like sack egg and spoon races.

The centre of attention as always was the farm animal petting zoo, a reminder that all donations from the community fair are going to assist drought affected local farmers. On the day the community came together and through their generous donations and the raffle a total of $2,166 was raised.

Mirvac General Manager of Residential NSW Toby Long said the opening of the almost 6000sqm park signified Mirvac’s commitment to creating strong, healthy communities.

“Beyond the provision of quality housing and inviting streetscapes we have always concentrated on the things that make a real difference to the way people live,” said Mr Long.

“Galloway Green gives our residents and the surrounding community a wonderful place to get outdoors, meet neighbours and let children lead a healthy and active lifestyle.”

Mr Long said Mirvac’s design team gave careful consideration to the lifestyles of future residents at CREST to ensure every resident got the most of out of the wide open spaces within the 90-hectare community.

“Close to half of the estate is dedicated to outdoor recreation areas,” said Mr Long. “There are walking and cycling tracks but the park is the place that really brings the community together.

“All ages have been catered for with play equipment and a large kickaround area where kids can gather to kick a ball or just let off steam and run. With a barbecue and picnic settings there is a place for families to eat outdoors and catch up with neighbours, family and friends.

“We expect a lot of birthday parties to be held here in the years ahead and maybe it will be the starting point for our next footy or cricket hero.”

The park will be a place for people to connect in more ways than one, with a smart bench with wi-fi and phone charging capability catapulting Galloway Green to top of the smart park stakes.
